The Remnant Covenant
WE, as followers of Jesus Christ, members of Remnant Ministries, and participants in the life of this Congregation do hereby Covenant to treat each other with:
RESPECT: we will treat others with thoughtfulness and deference
When someone breaks this covenant by not behaving in the manner in which we have agreed, we commit to:
STEP 1: Go to the person one-on-one: go with love, humility, pre-forgiveness, and the whole truth (to the best of your ability) with the intent of bringing restoration
Steps for reconciliation should be taken in the order prescribed above, and no steps should be taken beyond what is required to resolve the matter.
This Covenant is effective until the time of renewal/review of the Covenant (approx. one year) after which time all who wish to renew their covenantal relationship with Remnant Ministries, in the presence of Jesus Christ and this Congregation, will be permitted to reaffirm their commitment by signing this document.
All who enter into this Covenant are asked to do so circumspectly and with a full understanding of the requirements and consequences contained herein.
The Bible teaches us that there is a blessing that God reserves for us when we are in unity. This is not a unity where everyone believes exactly the same thing, spends time together, and gets along. This unity, or community, is a place where people love each other relentlessly, always ready to forgive, and choosing daily to lay down their lives for each other. The document below is not for perfect people, but for people who value their relationships enough to put processes in place to make restoration and reconciliation possible. The Remnant Covenant was first signed and became official in November of 2012.
